For conceptart.orgs weekly contest, this week was Baba Yaga. [link]

Baba Yaga is, in Slavic folklore, a witch-like character who flies around on a giant mortar, kidnaps (and presumably eats) small children, and lives in a house on chicken feet. In most Slavic folk tales, she is portrayed as an antagonist; however, some characters in other mythological folk stories have been known to seek her out for her wisdom, and she has been known on occasion to offer guidance to lost souls, although this is seen as rare.

Really nice. I dont know what it is... but it has a mistical, almost melancholic feeling to it... i think it may be the birches and the little doll.

So, this is well done, and I would sort of like to sit at your feet and worship you for a minute. Would that freak you out? It's like you're looking out of the boll of a tree that you're hiding in at the doll you just dropped and now the Baba Yaga knows there's a tasty little child nearby.

The burning look of hunger across the distorted, emaciated features is creepy enough, but the context makes it so much more chilling.

For a second I thought mortar as in the bomb. :)
I love the trees in the background and Baba Yaga's face.
Her legs/knees are awesomely skinny, really creepy.
I need to get involved in COW/ChOW, it might help me stop sucking.
